I believe God can heal a person physically even today. However, I am of those who believe that the gift of laying on Hands were given to the Apostles specifically and they had the power to pass it on.
Notice in Mark 16:15-20
Jesus gives his disciples the charge of preaching the word throughout the world, breaking the language barrior, speak through the spirit.
Vs 20 "Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with THEM and Confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied it."
In Acts 2 Peter and the other Apostles spoke in "Other Languages" proclaiming the Good news to Jesus.
In Acts 8:9-19
Notice that when the people believed and were baptized, they did not have the same gifts of the spirit that Philip had. That's because Philip had the hands of the Apostles laid and him back in Acts 6:5-6.
Philip obviously couldn't pass it or else Simon would have offered him the money for the gift and not Peter (Acts 8:18-19).
I believe this Particular Gift of the Spirit Would be Given by God to confirm a message from Him by the Apostles as needed. The message now is fulfilled through scripture and is sufficient for faith.
I believe that when the Apostles died, this Gift ended with THEM, because the world as they knew it was evangelized in there life time as it needs to be in ours.
Sorry for the long post.
